Sheena Lefaye Crews, a native of Henderson, NC, is a 2001 alumna of Northern Vance High School in Henderson, NC, and an award-winning designer in the greater Washington, D.C., area. As a 2005 Corcoran College of Art and Design graduate in Washington, D.C., Sheena’s work has been seen by influential people such as former President Barack Obama and Grammy award-winning artist Patti LaBelle. Her work was featured in Times Square in downtown New York. She was formerly the senior creative director at Catholic Charities USA, one of the U.S.’s largest social service organizations, and the creative director for the Unashamed Youth Ministry at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden International, overseeing marketing, social media, drama, and dance.

 

Before God led her to her current faith community, First Baptist Church of Glenarden International, in 2021, Sheena spent 20 years at Abundant Life United Holy Church, where the pastor (her uncle), the late Bishop Hildred L. Perry, Sr., took ministering to youth seriously. There, she served as the vice president of the youth department for over eight years. In 2011, God revealed a youth ministry to Sheena called “Know Your Worth.” Sheena has worked faithfully in this youth ministry for six years as a mentor and storyteller. She aims to open Know Your Worth youth centers nationwide, equipped to offer music, design, fine arts, theater, culinary arts, sports and recreation, science, peer tutoring, college prep, and lifestyle redemption programs. These programs would serve as after-school activities and summer-long commitments for at-risk and displaced students. 

 

Though Sheena has been heavily involved in youth ministry as a “mentor,” God had an even higher calling on her life—calling her to preach on August 16, 2022. With this additional assignment, Sheena is doing everything possible to prepare for what lies ahead. Though Sheena is taking courses from the Bible Institutes at her church, she will attend Yale Divinity School in the fall of 2025, one of the most prestigious institutions in the world, to obtain her Master of Divinity. Sheena knows this journey will come with bumps and bruises, but she is ready for the challenge in Jesus’ name!
